SAIL's Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) has registered its best-ever H1 production performance in the three key areas - hot metal, crude steel and saleable steel, as per latest reports available with SteelMint.

In the Apr-Sep'21 period of financial year 2021-22, RSP produced 2.1 million tonnes (mn t) of hot metal, 1.95 mn t of crude steel and 1.77 mn t of saleable steel, which are not only the highest for the H1 period recorded so far but also a significant improvement of 42.9%, 38% and 37.8%, respectively, over the H1 period of last fiscal. Total sinter production, too, touched an all-time high of 3.41 mn t during the period.

In the rolling mills zone, the plate mill and new plate mill recorded their best-ever rolling performance of 256,072 t and 447,522 t of steel plates, respectively.

The hot strip mill excelled in tandem by rolling 629,099 t of HR coil for sale, which is another best-since-inception figure for the H1 period.

As a result the total dispatch of saleable steel touched 1.78 mn t, thereby setting a new benchmark.

Dwelling on RSP's collective performance, Amarendu Prakash, Director-in-Charge, Bokaro Steel Plant and Rourkela Steel Plant, said: "Let's keep on excelling in the field of production as well as in other vital areas like safety, quality, house-keeping and cost of production."
