Liberty Steel looking to merge downstream operations in Europe

Liberty Steel Group will merge its downstream steel units in Italy, Belgium, Luxembourg and Romania as part of an ongoing financial restructuring, the UK-based steelmaker has announced. Liberty Liege-Dudelange in Belgium and Luxembourg and Liberty Magona in Italy will merge into Liberty Galati, Romania's largest integrated steel works, which will become the primary supplier of HRC to Liberty's downstream businesses. Moreover, the company is looking for a strategic sale of Liberty Steel UK's Stocksbridge specialty steel works, as per latest reports accessed by SteelMint.
