In a confirmed deal, 5,000 t of South African RB2 (5500 NAR) grade coal was sold at INR 11,000/t ex-Krishnapatnam today. South African portside prices continue to trade at elevated levels at Krishnapatnam amid lower stocks at other ports (Mangalore and Ennore) in southern India and no vessel arrivals from the country till 30 Sept'21 at these ports. Furthermore, given domestic coal shortage and surging RB1 (6000 NAR) coal prices, sellers are even heard to be holding offers in anticipation of a further price rise, informed market participants.
