Indonesia, an emerging ferrous scrap import market, witnessed a drop in scrap imports by 22% m-o-m in May'21. However, imports remained stable on year-on-year basis. The country imported 0.07 mn t of scrap in May as against 0.09 mn t in the previous month, as per data maintained with SteelMint. Hong Kong was the largest supplier with 0.03 mn t, followed by Australia and Singapore. Bid-offer disparities and dull demand weighed on imports.
