The IOCL and HPCL regularly recycle scrap obtained from damaged gas cylinders, which have perished in some way or cannot be refilled. This type of scrap is cut and shredded by recycling plants and sold to furnaces for melting. Market sources informed SteelMint that an auction conducted on 5 May for 300 t of old cylinders from Delhi fetched bids at INR 49,800/t, while another auction on 6 May received bids at INR 47,800/t for old cylinders from Varanasi, Uttrakhand.
